Calling all local artists!
An exciting new traveling art exhibition opportunity is available to the artists of
Gunnison, Salida, and Buena Vista.
Enter your art in this new exhibition and have the chance to display your work across
Southern Colorado!
Twenty-five artists from each community will be selected to come together to create one beautiful exhibition that will travel to Gunnison, Salida, and Buena Vista. Entry is open to all on a first come – first serve basis.
The theme we ask you to interpret is “Wilds: Grow Freely”. Wall art in any media can be submitted and artwork must be delivered and packaged for shipment so that it can be unwrapped and then wrapped back up again after each show location. All artwork must be original and available for sale.
Online entry opens on June 10, 2022 and
final deadline for online show entry is July 1, 2022.

Traveling Art Show Requirements
General Information

All art entries must be available for sale. Entry to the show will be online only. Cost to enter: $15.00

Art will remain in the show until it is over, but if a piece sells during the show, it will be marked sold both at the venue and online.

The online gallery of all entered art will be available on the Chaffee Arts website, www.chaffeearts.com.

Purchasing of art will also be online only and the purchase price online will include any shipping costs, if the purchaser requires shipping. Artists will be sent an email notification if an art piece sells as well as the contact information for the purchaser. It is the artist’s responsibility to pick up art at the end of the show and deliver to the buyer. If art is to be shipped, the Art Show committee will handle shipping to purchaser on Oct. 3, 2022.

Each town will have 25 entries and it will be first come – first serve. Artists can enter more than one piece of art but the second entry will be wait listed until the show entry deadline. If there are openings in the show, then the second entries will be accepted and artists will be notified.

Artists will drop off and pick up art in the town where they entered the show.

Commission for handling sales: 30%. Artists will be paid for sales within 30 days of show ending.

Chaffee Arts Members are required to docent 2.5 hours of time during the show at the Buena Vista Heritage Museum. There is an option to "buy" hours out for $25. Chaffee Arts will send out a follow-up email with docent information and a link to signup or "buy" hours out.

All art entered must be available for sale.

Art will be delivered to the community where the artist has applied. The locations, times and dates are listed.

Art cannot be removed from the show until it has ended on Oct. 1.

Art can be picked up on the dates listed per each community.

If extra insurance is needed, artist will supply it.
Description of Artwork

Wall art is accepted – any media.
-
Dimensions no larger than 3ft. by 4 ft.
-
Must be appropriately framed and ready to hang with wire. No saw tooth hangers allowed.

Unframed canvas must be museum wrapped and all edges painted.

No reproductions.

Triptych or diptych must have matching frame.

Fiber art must be original, no kits; designs must be by the artist entering the work. Must have a method of hanging included with the piece (dowel, hook, etc.)
Packaging of Artwork

Artwork must be delivered packaged for shipment so that it can be unwrapped and then wrapped back again after each show location.

Art must be clearly marked on outside of package with artist name, contact information, and location of origin (Salida, Gunnison, or Buena Vista).

Artist is responsible for appropriately wrapping and packing to prevent damage in transport as art will be moved from each venue by the Committee.

The show application will ask for dimensions of art – this is for packaged art. Make sure to pack art and measure before applying. In this way, if art is to be shipped the committee can charge the purchaser the correct freight and will handle all shipping for the artist.
